FAQ

  • What is the difference between isolation and non-isolation power supply?

Isolation power supplies use a transformer to keep the input and output electrically separate. This separation prevents high voltage on the input side from directly affecting the output side, offering better protection against electrical faults and shocks. Isolated power supplies are well-suited for sensitive equipment and high-voltage applications, such as medical devices and industrial controls.
In contrast, non-isolation power supplies connect the input and output directly without using a transformer for electrical isolation. This design makes non-isolated power supplies more efficient and compact, as they do not require transformers for isolation. However, there is a risk of electrical shock when in contact with the output end. Therefore, non-isolated power supplies need to have are best for low-voltage and applications where electrical isolation is not a concern.
  • Does the adapter have a minimum load requirement?

Xelite's single-output power supply has no minimum load requirement, allowing the output load current to range from 0 to the rated load. In contrast, multiple-output power supplies do have a minimum load requirement. Please refer to the specifications for details on the output current range.
  • How to choose the thickness of the adapter output cable? What is the relationship between the thickness of the output cable and its length?

Once energy efficiency level VI is achieved, using thicker and shorter DC cables becomes more cost-effective. The thickness of the output cable should depend on its length. Longer cables have higher resistance, resulting in more energy loss. To mitigate this loss, thicker wires are necessary for longer cables. Therefore, when designing a power supply, it's important to select the appropriate cable thickness and length to guarantee optimal performance and minimize cost.
